The Wall
Version 2.00
by
Michael Nelson
Released 01-30-1992
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
I was using various Graffiti Walls on my BBS and they just weren't
doing what I had wanted or just didn't look right, so I did what every
good SysOp/Programmer should do....I wrote my own.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- Packing List -
TheWall.exe Main Program and the rest of that stuff
TheWall.cnf Setup is described below
TheWall.doc That which you are reading now silly!
File_id.diz Description File for ZipLab on PCB 14.5a
The wall will create upon the first time run the following:
TheWall.log SysOp's log file of who posted and when
TheWall.wal The actual file that stores all the postings
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- History -
The Wall:
Version 1.00 - Initial Release
Sun. 01-19-92
Version 1.01 - Fixed Bug in Color Command when 'MORE' prompt
Mon. 01-20-92 interrupted an expression. Also improved
Registration Routines.
Version 1.02 - Revised registration routine so as to verify
Tue. 01-21-92 the configuration files serial number. Also
provided better random numbers.
Version 2.00 - Rewrote source to provide a method to choose
between a 3 line mini-message base and a
one-liner type graffiti wall.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- The Config file is set up as follows: -
Line 1 Interrupt -------------------- The Driver Type for the
Door, Interrupt or Bios.
Line 2 Connections! BBS ------------- BBS Name (like Duh!)
Line 3 Michael ---------------------- Sysop's First Name
Line 4 Nelson ----------------------- SysOp's Last Name
Line 5 000000 ----------------------- Registration Number
Leave as 000000 if
not registered
Line 6 100 -------------------------- Minimum Access level
to perform SysOp Commands
within the Door.
Line 7 1 ---------------------------- Number of lines to
have the user write.
1 - One-liner Wall
3 - 3 line mini-message
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- The Batch file should resemble this -
Echo off
cd \pcb\doors\thewall
thewall thewall.cnf c:\pcb LOCAL
cd \pcb
board
This program was written using prokit34 and general sticks to the
methods that other ProKit Doors use. The LOCAL is used when
executing TheWall from the Command line to see what it looks like and
how it works. Don't worry about the log looking funny, it will
include the names of who posted once it is online. It uses the
PCBoard.sys file to get the name and when you run it locally it does
have that file to read. BTW, don't include the LOCAL when actually
running the door from within PCB.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- What will registration get me? -
For the low, low, low price of $10 you can register TheWall Graffiti
Wall and get the following:
1. The removal of that annoying pause when exiting the door.
2. Access to the SysOp Command Menu, which is very helpful.
3. Ability to choose between one-liner and mini-messages base modes.
4. One year free updates to all the newest versions of TheWall and
first choice of any new EMPIRE DoorWare products in the making.
5. The satisfaction of knowing that I can now sleep at night because
I can make my Car Insurance payments on time.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
The latest version of TheWall Graffiti Wall is always available via
The Vampyre Bar! and the SysOp can probably be able to answer any
questions you might have if you need to know the answers right then.
The program is in my opinion pretty much self explanatory but if you
have any questions I can be contacted one of three ways:
1 - Call The Vampyre Bar! BBS
2 - Leave a message addressed to me via any BBS echoing GeniusNet
3 - Write me
I hope you enjoy this Door as much as I have writing and running it!
